Jasper the Rabbit
Simon & Schuster’s Creepy Tales Experience–at The Book Stall!
Fans of Aaron Reynolds’ books Creepy Carrots, Creepy Crayon, and Creepy Pair of Underwear will want to join us at The Book Stall on Saturday, May 20th from 10:30 to 12 noon for Simon & Schuster’s Creepy Tales! Experience! Kids can meet Jasper the Rabbit for a great photo op, make their own ghoulish underwear garland, create their own creepy crayon, and of course hear the Creepy Tales! This free event is recommended for kids ages 4 – 7.
Crafts and activities begin at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 20th, with a Creepy storytime at 11 AM. Jasper the Rabbit will be available live and in-person (in rabbit??) from 10:30 – 12 noon, but he’ll need some carrot breaks, so he won’t be visible for the entirety of that time!
Your kids probably know these books, but if they don’t—In Creepy Carrots, The Twilight Zone comes to the carrot patch in a Caldecott-Honor winning picture book parable about a rabbit who fears his favorite treats are out to get him. In a starred review, Booklist said of the sequel, Creepy Pair of Underwear, “This strikes the ideal balance between frightening and hilarious, and like the underwear itself, readers are guaranteed to keep coming back for this storytime platinum.” The third title, Creepy Crayon, was just released last fall. It’s a book the Horn Book calls, “Harold and the Purple Crayon meets Faust!” These books strike just the right balance between humor and scare.
