John Trautwein, former Major League Baseball player & founder of Will to Live Foundation
John Trautwein & Life Teammates
Since losing his 15-year-old son in 2010, former MLB player John Trautwein has been sharing what he has learned as a grieving parent caught unaware of the challenges that faced his son Will—struggles that burden millions of kids today. John’s wonderful team of lifelong friends stepped up to help him and his family turn a tragedy into a message of love and hope. Come hear Trautwein’s motivational message for all of us, in the Sanctuary, in this event co-sponsored by Kenilworth Union’s Adult Education Committee and Alison Tobey Smart Memorial Fund. This event is open to all. Please register before attending.
John Trautwein is a Chicago-area native who played baseball at Northwestern University before pitching in the MLB for seven years with the Montreal Expos and Boston Red Sox. Following the death of Will, the oldest of his four children with wife Susie, the Trautweins founded “The Will to Live Foundation,” spreading a hopeful message, to include the importance of life teammates and teaching teens how to improve their own “will to live.” Awards received include the “George W. Bush Presidential Point of Light Award” and Northwestern University’s prestigious “A Life Touched, A Generation Changed” award.
