Becoming a Values-Based Leader
What does it mean to be a values-based leader? When faced with real situations, how can you be your best self and create best teams while also being a best partner with customers and vendors, a best investment for your stakeholders, and a best citizen making a difference in the world? It’s a tall order, but these are the expectations for world-class organizations today. Sometimes “doing the right thing” while also delivering outstanding and lasting results is difficult for leaders to achieve. Values-based leaders are needed more than ever in today’s economic and political environment. Harry M. Jansen Kraemer’s global experience as the former Chairman and CEO of Baxter International, a $12 billion global healthcare company, will offer insights into the importance of self-reflection, balance, true self-confidence, and genuine humility in shaping leadership qualities.
When people discuss leadership, they sometimes assume you need to be older and have people reporting to you to be a leader, but this isn’t true. Anybody can become a leader at any age, long before they have people reporting to them. Becoming a leader can start in high school, and even in elementary school. Prof. Kraemer will discuss the characteristics and principles that will enable everyone to become a values-based leader.
