The Case of the Murderous Dr. Cream: The Hunt for a Victorian Era Serial Killer—A Conversation with Dean Jobb and David Grann
True-crime aficionados—on Tuesday, July 13th at 6:30 PM, The Book Stall presents award-winning author and journalist Dean Jobb discussing his new book, The Case of the Murderous Dr. Cream: The Hunt for a Victorian Era Serial Killer. He will be in conversation with David Grann, author of The Lost City of Z and Killers of the Flower Moon. This event is free and open to the public. We respectfully request that you purchase your copy of Mr. Jobb’s book from The Book Stall if you attend this event.
About the Book: Dean Jobb says, “My goal was to tell, for the first time, the complete story of Dr. Cream’s horrific crimes, and the Scotland Yard investigation, expert testimony, and pioneering lab tests that finally brought him to justice. I wanted to see, first-hand, what survives of his world, and to expose the sexism, hypocrisy, and corruption that allowed one of history’s most prolific murderers to evade justice in three countries.” The author of eight previous books, Jobb’s 2015 book, Empire of Deception, was hailed as “intoxicating and impressively researched” by the New York Times Book Review and as “a masterpiece” by the Chicago Tribune, and went on to be named the Chicago Writers Association’s Nonfiction Book of the Year.
Chicago history buffs should note that some of Dr. Cream’s heinous crimes occurred here in the Chicago area.
