Katie Galetti
From the Big Screen to Broadway: A look at musical adaptations of movies
We’ve all got our favorite movie versions of musicals but what about the other way around? Musical adaptations of movies have been made as long as movies themselves. From Singin’ in the Rain to The Lion King to Once (now playing at Writers Theatre!), musicals based on films have shaped the genre of musical theatre in important ways. In this free event, Artistic Producer Katie Galetti will explore seminal moments in movie-to-musical history and the process of artistic interpretation with side-by-side looks at scenes from both forms.
